SKU

All purchasing activities require SKU (Parts) codes defined as Miscellaneous, Inventoried or Receivable. For example, you may set up a SKU to record shipping and freight charges. Since units are not associated with these charges, you do not need to track freight as an inventoried item therefore you would set up a miscellaneous SKU for freight.

Before new SKU can be created, following information must be provided:

• SKU Classifications

• Categories by which SKUs will be grouped

• Account types associated with individual SKUs

• Units of measure and UOM Conversions

• Sales Tax Types

Features and Functions

SKU Classification Code: SKU classifications provide a means of retrieving and searching for specific SKU codes. SKU class codes are optional.

Part (SKU) UOM Conversion Codes: Use the Part UOM Conversion window to define the rate used to convert one unit of measure to another. You can create an unlimited number of unique conversion combinations. Part UOM conversions allow you to use a different unit of measure for Purchasing transactions rather than the item’s Inventory unit of measure.
