Recap from IAAPA Attractions Expo 2016
We’re back from the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) expo in Orlando, FL. Although we weren’t able to exhibit this year due to the show being completely booked, we were able to learn a lot of about the industry and meet a lot of interesting people.
Yet for all of the glitz and glamour (indoor roller coasters, anyone?) we saw at the show, we didn’t see much in the way of CMMS being represented there. In fact, there was only one other CMMS vendor there. Does this mean maintenance and inspection is an afterthought? Hardly. The amusement park industry is one of the most dedicated when it comes to maintaining and inspecting equipment, but it does make you wonder not only how maintenance and inspections are currently being handled, but if there’s room for improvement.
This process should be as easy as possible because amusement parks are big, sprawling locations. It’s already difficult enough to manage ride maintenance and inspections as is and your software shouldn’t add to that difficulty. In the past, we’ve discussed how mobile technology can greatly improve this process. It’s the driving factor behind why we developed Mobile Suite and it’s the reason why Hershey Park already takes advantage of this.
All of us here at CHAMPS plan to help change this representation, which is why we’re already making plans to exhibit next year. If we can provide just a little bit more exposure to a more intelligent way of managing maintenance and inspections for the amusement parks industry, it will have been well worth it.
